Three routes
How the Foundation is paid for
We are open about where the money comes from, because organizations receiving funded access are right to ask, and because funders check.
The standing pledge, 2%
2% of every CyberSafe Coach subscription is donated to the Foundation automatically. There is no opt in and no decision to make. Every paying customer contributes.
Optional donation, 10%
At the checkout, subscribers can choose to add a one off 10% social impact donation on top of what they are already paying.
Sponsored Access, from $420
A business sponsors one named local school, nonprofit or community group for a full year. The sponsor is publicly recognized and receives a quarterly impact report.
The honest bit
What this means in practice
The Foundation can only award what it holds. Pledge income scales with how many people pay for the commercial platform, which means in the early stages the fund is small and demand outstrips it.
We would rather say that plainly than imply an unlimited pot. When we cannot fund an organization immediately we tell them, give them their position on the waitlist, and set out the alternatives. We then use that waitlist as evidence of demand when we apply for grants, which is how the fund grows.
Pledge contributions are treated as ring fenced community funding rather than distributable profit, and no dividends are paid.
For US sponsors: the Foundation is a UK community interest company, not a 501(c)(3). Sponsorship is a commercial sponsorship arrangement with public recognition, not a charitable donation, and it is not deductible as a charitable contribution for US tax purposes. Please take your own advice on how to treat it.
