Five minutes, then a plain English answer
- A short set of questions about how you use your devices and accounts.
- A clear picture of where you are most exposed.
- Practical guidance on what to fix first, in order.
- Advice on scams, passwords and keeping children safe online.
You do not need to apply
The check for individuals and families is open to anyone, anywhere. You do not need to belong to an organisation, you do not need a referral, and you do not need to prove anything about your circumstances.
It is also not affected by whether the Foundation has funds available. That constraint only applies to funded access for organisations.
If you are worried about an older relative, a child, or someone you care for, the check works just as well done on their behalf.
What this is not
No scare tactics
A lot of online safety advice is written to frighten people into buying something. This is not that. There is nothing to buy, so there is no reason to exaggerate the risk.
It is also not technical. You will not be asked about firewalls or told to install anything. It is about the handful of habits that make the biggest difference, in language that assumes no background at all.
Take five minutes
The check is free, there is nothing to sign up for, and you will come away knowing what to do first.
